Day Fourty Of Grand Australian Ride From Rockhampton To Bundaberg East
Start: Rockhampton, Queensland Finish: Bundaberg East, Queensland
Date: 8th June 2022 Distance: 319 kms Weather: Warm, Dry Time Taken: 6 Hours 45 Minutes Terrain: Sugar Farms Road: Straight Road
Started the ride around 6:45am. Less traffic and cool weather. Roadworks still on. Sugarcane plantation and mills. Stopped at Calliope River historical village. Very good experience. Very well restored building with all amenities, for example a house would have bed and bedsheets, train buggy will also have luggages. So so many interesting people. The team at the village was fantastic. Must have spent at least 1 1/2 hour there. Turned left from Gin Gin to go to Bundaberg. As you turn you start to see sugar plantations and mills. Arrived at Bundaberg and check into Bundaberg East Cabin and Tourist park at 1:30pm. Walk to the Bundaberg Rum Distillery for the tour as it was not too far. Was asked to arrive 45mins to an hour early. Explored the museum and learnt an interesting fact that they started making rum here to resolve the growing problem of waste of molasses from the sugar mills. The tour stated on time. Was asked to leave all electronics in locker for safety. Fun tour and excellent experience. There was free samples The end. Called it a day with a quick meal at Hungary Jacks next to my accomodation.
