Day Thirty Three Of Grand Australian Ride From Mount Isa To Normanton
Start: Mount Isa, Queensland Finish: Normanton, Queensland
Date: 1st June 2022 Distance: 494 kms Weather: Hot Time Taken: 8 Hours 30 Minutes Terrain: Green Vegetation Road: Straight Road
Started a little late as was tired from yesterday’s long ride. The road between mount Isa and Cloncurry was fantastic. Hilly, twisties, Less busy and smooth. First stop was at Aboriginal Memorial. Paid my respects. Learnt about the Australian Dinosaur Trail, didn’t know that existed. Took a bypass from cloncurry and got on to Matilda way (Burke Development Way – 83). Had encounters with a mob Emus. Moving north the landscape changed to plains (same as past few days). Ran out of fuel so used from spare Jerry cans. Stopped at Burke & Wills, the only stop between cloncurry and Normanton. Had lunch (veggie burger of course). Road changed to one lane several times. Reached Normanton. About microwave meals as was not keen on VB (veggie burger). Overall fun day.
