Day Thirty Four Of Grand Australian Ride From Normanton To Mount Surprise
Start: Normanton, Queensland Finish: Mount Surprise, Queensland
Date: 2nd June 2022 Distance: 396 kms Weather: Hot Time Taken: 7 Hours 15 Minutes Terrain: Hilly Road: Mainly Straight
Started the day with exploring the town as I hadn’t seen it the previous day. Saw the “Crocodile Krys”, can’t imagine it how surreal it would have been seeing the real thing.saw a historic railway siding. Arrived in Croydon, fuelled up and had a coffee and coleslaw. Had a brief stop at Gilbert river. Explored the area from sky. Stopped at Cumberland Chimney. Nice lake, good place to camp, good for bird watching. Arrived in Georgetown. Had a veg sandwich and juice for lunch and fuelled up. The road was turning into single lane and unsealed due to roadworks. Arrived at Mount Surprise and fixed a dinner of soup and chips and nuts. Overall a little tired due to long ride in last few days and very HOT.
